Ben Elton - Popcorn + Sean Hughes - The Detainees

Two hardback novels by a pair of outstanding British comedians - 'Popcorn' by Ben Elton and 'The Detainees' by Sean Hughes. Both in VGC. Price is for both or separately at $9 each.
'Popcorn' by Ben Elton
This is Motormouth's fourth novel. He's released more than a handful of similar efforts into the wild since. How does he find the time between stand up, playwriting, and writing for film and television (The Young Ones, Blackadder, Maybe Baby, We Will Rock You...that Queenish musical, etc)?
As with all Mr Elton's efforts...once you pick it up you won't want to put it down. This one was a UK No 1 and received the Crime Writers' Association of Great Britain Gold Dagger Award for fiction.
The book is in great condition with all pages clean and tightly bound, although they have tanned a little with age. The slip cover is in great nick too.
This is the hardback first editon published by Simon & Schuster in 1996. ISBN 0-684-81612-1. 298 pages. [Approx 22 x 14.5 x 3 & 440g]
'The Detainees' by Sean Hughes
This is Sean Hughes first novel, a very black comedy indeed. He's a British stand up who had his own show on the BBC in the early 90's and has appeared in various minor roles on British TV. He was the record producer in 'The Commitments' and the voice of the Tapir in 'Robbie the Reindeer', for example, and has also toured here. He won a Perrier Comedy Award in 1990. Turns out that he's a very good writer too.
The book is in great condition with all pages clean and tightly bound. Some minor signs of use on the dust jacket and some minor marks on the edges of the closed pages. There is a stamp on the flyleaf.
This is the hardback first editon published by Simon & Schuster in 1997. ISBN 0-684-82081-1. 322 pages. [Approx 22 x 14.5 x 3.3 & 585g]
